Reflecting God's Heart

“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress…”
– James 1:27
When God calls us to care for orphans and widows, He isn’t just offering a suggestion—He’s revealing His very heart. True faith, according to Scripture, isn’t measured by words or rituals but by love in action.
To care for the orphan is to live out the Gospel. It’s more than charity; it’s a reflection of the God who adopted us into His family through Christ. When we step into the work of caring for vulnerable children—whether through adoption, foster care, medical sponsorship, or prayer— we’re taking part in something very close to God’s heart.
At Connected Hearts Ministry, we’ve seen time and again that when God calls His people to care, He also provides the means. Families say yes, donors give generously, and children who once faced impossible odds now know the love of a family and the hope of Christ. _______________________________________________________________________________
James’s Story

When Amie first saw James’s photo, she felt God tug at her heart. Though he faced severe limb differences, she knew he was meant to be her son.
The adoption journey wasn’t easy, but thanks to generous donors and the support of Connected Hearts, the financial obstacles began to fall away.
After coming home, James needed surgeries to give him full use of his hands and feet. Thanks to generous donors through our medical funding program, Connected Hearts was once again able to step in—helping provide funds for the surgery that gave James ten fingers and ten toes!
Today, James is thriving—walking, playing, and shining with joy. His story is a powerful reminder that when we respond to God’s call to care for orphans, lives are forever changed. Read the full story here and here.

James 1:27 isn’t just a verse—it’s a call to live differently. Caring for orphans isn’t something only certain people are “called” to do; it’s part of what it means to follow Jesus.
For some, that means opening your home through adoption or foster care. For others, it may mean sponsoring a child’s medical care, giving toward adoption grants, or simply praying for families on the journey. Each act of obedience—no matter how small—makes a lasting impact.
As the Body of Christ, we are called to reflect the heart of the Father to a world in need. When we care for the least of these, we are caring for Him (Matthew 25:40). Together, we can help more children like James experience healing, belonging, and the hope of a forever family.
