10 years ago, a young boy known as Pete captured the hearts of people around the world. His photo spread across the internet, and his story sparked an incredible wave of advocacy and prayer. People from many countries began sharing his story, hoping that one day he would find a loving family.
Those efforts eventually connected him with the Gibson family. Once Pete- whom the Gibsons later renamed Maddox- was matched with them, they became a sponsored family through Connected Hearts Ministry. Advocates and generous donors quickly stepped in to help raise the funds needed to complete his adoption, and before long, Maddox’s adoption was fully funded.
Because of supporters like you, Maddox came home to his forever family.

Today, years later, we are excited to share a small update on how he is doing.
His mom, Lindsay Gibson, recently shared:
“Maddox is doing great. He is 18 now! He loves to read and keeps busy helping me around the house. He often cooks dinner and has learned a lot in the kitchen.”
Maddox recently reached another exciting milestone as well. This past fall he started working at Chick-fil-A, a job he truly enjoys.
Like every family, the Gibsons have experienced both joys and challenges along the way. Lindsay shared that adoption can bring difficult moments, but even in those moments their family continues to grow and learn together.
“Even in the hard, we are all learning more about ourselves and how to love like Christ loves us.”
