Every adoption story is unique, and part of that uniqueness comes from the different paths families can take. While each type of adoption has its own process and challenges, all of them share one beautiful truth: a child gains the security and love of a family.
Domestic Adoption
Domestic adoption takes place within the United States. This may include adopting an infant through an agency, or adopting an older child through the foster care system. Many families are drawn to domestic adoption because it allows them to provide a loving home for a child right here in their own country.
International Adoption
International adoption allows families to welcome children from around the world. Countries may differ in their requirements, but the goal is the same—finding safe, permanent families for children who might otherwise grow up in orphanages or without parental care. For families, this journey often involves travel, cultural learning, and embracing the beauty of expanding their family across borders.
Foster-to-Adopt
In the foster-to-adopt path, families welcome children from the foster care system with the hope of providing a forever home if parental rights are eventually terminated. This journey can be filled with both waiting and uncertainty, but it also provides some of the most powerful testimonies of God’s redemptive work as children find healing, stability, and love.
A Biblical Perspective
Each of these adoption paths reflects God’s heart for the vulnerable. Scripture reminds us, “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress” (James 1:27). Whether local or global, adoption is one way Christians live out this calling—opening their hearts and homes to children who need family.
