Our Story: (Click here to leave the family a message of encouragement)
We started our adoption process back in November of 2012 when we decided to adopt internationally. At that time we had 2 biological boys, ages 1 and 3. We started in a brand new pilot program to adopt from Uganda, Africa. We were passionate about orphan care worldwide and especially in Africa, and thought that’s where God was leading us. To make a long story short, as the Uganda program kept changing, we waited for over 2 years for a referral. With no end to the wait in sight, we decided to start the process to adopt from China as well.
Shortly after our home study for China was completed, we found out we were pregnant. What a surprise! Per our agencies requirement, we had to go on hold until our child was born and turned 6 months old. While we were on hold, the Uganda program closed. We were devastated by this news, as our thoughts for the last 3 years were focused on bringing home a child from Uganda, but it was out of our hands. Once our third biological boy was 6 months old, we were able to update our homestudy for China and begin work on our dossier for China.
Our dossier was sent to China in May of 2017. We were told the wait for a little girl could be up to 18 months. Needless to say, we were shocked to get a call from our social worker on July 28, asking if we would like to look at the file of a little girl. We accepted the referral for Jia Ni on August 30, 2017.
JiaNi (her Chinese name), is a sweet and shy 4 year-old little girl. Although we only have a few pieces of her medical puzzle, we are beyond thrilled for her to be a part of our family and give her the love and support she deserves. Our biological boys are now ages 8, 6 and 1. Our 4-year-old little girl will fit in perfectly with her brothers!
